- Full-day tour, including a visit to Cooya Beach where you will fish using cultural techniques passed down generations.
This Daintree Aboriginal Dreaming Day Tour will take you on a journey in the heritage, ancient culture, and traditions of the Kuku Yalanji people. To start, you will travel north of Port Douglas to Mossman Gorge, Daintree National Park. Here, you will experience a traditional smoking ceremony and a guided walk-through at Mossman George. Immerse yourself in the lush rainforest of the World Heritage-listed Wet Tropics Daintree Rainforest.
Savor a delectable lunch at the Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre, refueling for the next leg of your journey. Then, venture to Kuyu Kuyu, or Cooya Beach, the traditional fishing grounds of the Kuku Yalanji people. Here, you’ll explore three diverse ecosystems: the beach, mangrove, and coastal reef. Accompany a member of the Kurbirri Warra clan on their daily expedition through these ecosystems, as they demonstrate their time-honored techniques for spearfishing and food gathering, traditions passed down through generations and still in use today.
